OMFG: The recession killed my gardening budget, but Craigslist, Freecycle, fellow gardeners, and Mother Nature came to the rescue and took my garden in some unexpected directions. My garden is slowly being populated with cast-off, infirm, and otherwise undesirable characters, interplanted with volunteers and donations from generous friends and family. Each plant has a history that it brings with it into the garden. Wildlife, weather, and a natural creek in the backyard embellish the garden with more freebies as well. Here's a peek at the people and plants and creatures I met on the way to the compost heap...
